Photoshoot Holy Grails
by:Kimjluv
Have you ever done makeup for a photoshoot? This is definitely where my passion for makeup lies. I love doing high end beauty and editorial makeup. This is a list of products that I use at every photoshoot. Remember that the camera never picks up color as true as it is in real life, so it is important that you are applying your makeup more heavily than you would in your every day life. You really just need to exaggerate the makeup for photos and always remember that blending is key!
1. BECCA Backlight Filter Face Primer
I love this primer! It helps to blur imperfections and gives you this great radiance. There is the perfect amount of glow and hydration in this bottle. You can put this on your model's face and just spot foundation on any blemishes. This just "juices" the skin up perfectly.
(Retails for $38.00 and can be bought at https://camerareadycosmetics.com/#oid12345_1234 )

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
When doing photoshoots one of the most important things you want to execute every time is having your makeup work look as clean and as polished as possible. Even those pesky little hairs. This brow gel helps keep those brow hairs neat and in place. You can put on model/clients brows as a top coat or alone. This is definitely a must have for grooming men.

3. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil
Oils are a staple! I just started using this primer oil from Smashbox about a month ago. I have been using oils in general since the beginning of my makeup career. You can use oils for all skin types! I mainly use to mix with cream foundations. This helps the product glide and melt easier onto the skin. This oil is super light and absorbs fast leaving a glowy finish. Which YES, I am all about! Lol!

5. Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation
Skin is definitely one of the main focuses when doing makeup for a photoshoot. You can have great eyeshadow and great brows but frankly it comes down to skin. This is a water-gel, face and body foundation. Water Blend is pretty much what it sounds like..Water! This formula has 80% water in it. It is so skin-like and leaves a pretty, dewy finish.

6. Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Palette
I use tons of cream products and very little to no powders when on set. This 4 in 1 Cream palette has a highlight, contour, shimmer highlight and a corrector(that I even use as a blush). I love warming up the face with the contour shade! This formula glides so perfectly. It isn't too thick to where you have to warm it up. It's basically ready to be applied as is. There are 4 palettes for all skin tones.

7. Lash Curler
When doing high-end beauty, false lashes are 99.9999% a NO! Investing in a good lash curler is a must. Your model's lashes need to be just as polished and neat as your foundation, eyeshadow and brows. I use the Shiseido lash curler. It has a wide lash frame that fits and hugs the eyes closely without worrying about pinching your clients lid. Use of mascara just depends on the type of shoot.
